Following the bell restoration and refurbishment project of 2005/2006, the bells at St Peter & St Paul's Aylesford are once again ringing out across the parish.
The refurbished bells are now easier to ring which has enabled ringers of all standards to progress.  Over the past 12 months, we have welcomed 2 new junior ringers into the fold as well as 3 new adult members.
The ringers here in Aylesford are members of the Kent County Association of Change Ringers or KCACR for short.  The association is divided into 6 districts and we are part of the Maidstone District.

In June 2006, a team from Aylesford entered the district 6 bell striking competition which was held at Yalding, and finished a creditable 3rd.  In November we entered 2 teams in the 6 bell call change competition at Boxley, and finished 1st and 5th.  So as you can see, our pracice evenings do have a purpose other than just keeping our ringing skills available for Sunday ringing and ringing for weddings.

In January 2007, Aylesford hosted one of the district meetings and over 30 members from the Miadstone District attended - mainly due to the curiosity factor at how the bells were going to handle after the refurbishment.

The ringers also met socially during the year.  We enjoyed a midsummer meal at the Woolpack, Yalding as well as a Christmas meal at the Red Bull in Eccles.  In addition to this, our tower captain arranged a ringing outing to Sussex, and we enjoyed a pre-Christmas hand bell ringing party at the home of another of our band.   Another high point of the year was when 2 of our ringers appeared on Ready, Steady, Cook!  They appeared on of the Christms shows and along with 4 other ringers from Aylesford, gave a renditioin of Jingle Bells on the hand bells!!
Whilst we do have a thriving band at the moment, we are always looking for new people to join the band.  We meet on Monday evenings at 7.30pm and finish at 9.15pm.  If you want to learn how to ring, or indeed used to ring and want to put those skills back into good use, why not pay us a visit.  You will be assured of a warm welcome.  We look forward to seeing you soon!
