Vicar's thought for the month
(from the parish Magazine)
Dear Friends,
We've only moved from Gillingham, but what a
contrast for us, especially where we are living: trees and squirrels instead of
cars and sirens (we lived on a very busy corner at the top of Chatham
Hill).
As we get to meet you, I imagine that you will be
sizing us up and deciding what you think of the new vicar and his wife! When I
meet couples asking for their child's baptism, I always ask them if they know
people who are happy to call themselves Christians. If they do, my next question
is, "And does their faith impress you or put you off?" Whether we like it or
not, people do look at us, all of us who call ourselves Christians, to decide
what they think of the Christian faith. We are the Bible many people read! And
Jesus said, "By their fruit you will know them." That's a huge challenge to all
of us and particularly to Kathy and me as we begin our lives here in
Aylesford.
By the way, we do want you to feel free to drop in
at the vicarage to meet us or to chat through things on your mind, or just to
have a cup of coffee. Please do take us up on the invitation. Or if you'd like
me to come and see you, please let me know.
With best wishes to you,
Chris
