December & Christmas Services
For obvious reasons this Christmas presents us with a number of challenges, the main ones being crowd control especially with our Tier 3 regulations, the necessity to keep the church completely clean and safe and the limit on the number of people who can attend in person. All these things are manageable week to week, but not so easily when very large numbers of people are expected. With all these things in mind, the PCC Standing Committee has agreed the service schedule below. Things are a bit different, it would be lovely if they didn't need to be, but we're sure everyone understands and we will make up for it next year!
Special services are shown in red.
Sunday 6th 10am - A Service of the Word with Holy Communion
Saturday 12th 2pm - Remembering Those We Have Loved
Saturday 12th 4pm - Remembering Those We Have Loved
Two special services in remembrance of our loved ones, to replace those that had to be cancelled on 7th November. In church only (no Zoom).
Sunday 13th 8am - Holy Communion
Sunday 13th 10am - Holy Communion
Sunday 13th 4pm - Carol Service
The Carol Service will be held inside church and by Zoom. Attend in person by booking (from Monday 7th December onwards).
Sunday 20th 10am - Christingle
To be held in church, but because we won't be able to get as many people as usual inside, this service will also be broadcast over Zoom. You will be able to book to attend in person from Monday 14th December onwards. Look out for more details in the next week or so. Please be aware that church building can only hold a maximum of around 35 people, safely.
Christmas Eve 4pm - Nativity Service
The Nativity Service will also be held in church and broadcast over Zoom. You will be able to book to attend this in person from Monday 21st December onwards. Again - look out for more details in the next week or so. Please be aware that church building can only hold a maximum of around 35 people, safely.
Christmas Day 10am - Christmas Communion
To be held in church and broadcast over Zoom. You will be able to book to attend this in person from Monday 21st December onwards. Please be aware that church building can only hold a maximum of around 35 people, safely.
... will be sent out in the eNewsletter each week.
Midnight Communion - sadly, not this year
You will notice the absence of Midnight Communion. The Standing Committee felt that was the most sensible arrangement this year. Apart from anything else, we don't need people cleaning the church at 1am! Also people just turning up, without knowing the booking system, is very likely, and that would be an uncomfortable situation for everyone. We will make up for it next year!
And no carols in the square ...
... which is really sad! We will so make up for this next year, with a brass band! Put the date (Friday 17th December 2021) in your diary!
