Prayer for the Nation

prayer for the nation 1000w

The archbishops have asked in a letter to the nation, for everyone to join in Prayer for the Nation at 6pm every day, during February.

We discussed this briefly at the end of last Sunday's service and it was suggested that we should meet once a week. So this is an invitation to join together at 6pm every Wednesday in February, starting today.

The Zoom link will be: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81537609901?pwd=ZTdnMjlMRGhOL0FqamtsMEsvSUc4UT09

Meeting ID: 815 3760 9901
Passcode: 351040

Please join from 5.50pm.

We will use this Litany and a psalm and readings from Evening Prayer for the day.

You may like to have the Daily Prayer app on your smartphone (but this is not essential).

If you are unable to join, or would like to pray at 6pm on other days, you can find prayers and other resources on the Church of England web page.

Everyone will be very welcome. There will be a time of free prayer, but please do not feel pressured to speak. God hears all our prayers, including the silent ones! If you would like to bring a written prayer or reflection, please do.

Prayer for Week 1 (1-7 February)

Gracious God,
as we remember before you the thousands who have died,
surround us and all who mourn with your strong compassion.
Be gentle with us in our grief,
protect us from despair,
and give us grace to persevere
and face the future with hope
in Jesus Christ our risen Lord.
Amen.
