Sunday 10am
The Work of God

Following the feeding of the 5000, Jesus goes to a mountain by himself. Before long the crowd realises that Jesus and the disciples are missing, and they hunt them down. Despite the miracle (sign) they have just witnessed, Jesus knows they have only looked for him because he gave them food. He opens an intriguing discussion comparing the everyday necessity, bread, to himself as the source of all life and says that their work is simply to believe in him who sustains all things. The crowd is not at all certain and, unbelievably, asks for another sign!

Hmmm - intriguing for us maybe? How can we do the work God wants? Are we convinced that believing in Jesus is sufficient, or do we too ask for signs?

Here is the service sheet. You will only need to print/access it if you are joining by Zoom; it will be supplied in church.

If you'd like to explore this Sunday's readings and ideas with all ages in your family here is an Activity Sheet.
